OVIERVIEW ON COMPOSITE SHAFTS

The composite fiber shafts are completely different from the wooden ones.
First of all they are not derived from the processing of solid material but they are based on tubes formed by different layers of synthetic fibers.
The technical characteristics of the game change from the number and type of layers.
In general, a fiber shaft has much more power than a wooden one.
This is the reason why it is used for over 25 years for the Italian game were the opponent ball has to run long distances on the table

MATCH YOUR TASTE

The Longoni Team, currently, suggest 4 types of synthetic fibers, not all available for the various disciplines.
The fibercomp (white) has good power and control, k-max and woodcomp (k-max covered with a maple type look) have a good ball control, the graphite has power and accuracy.

wood-origin 2DF - DOUBLE DENSITY FOAM

In order to improve the balance and acoustic, in all laminated shafts close to the joint area, we created a long hole filled with a special foam. This material compensates density, absorbs vibrations and improves the balance.

wood-origin FIBER LONGONI WARRANTY

In spite of wooden shafts, those in fiber are indeformable and resistant to the humidity. For the correct cleaning we recommend the RED TOUCH by longoni cloth that does not need any chemical products. To restore the satin effect of the shafts, we recommend the "NO BLUE POLISH" by longoni product and ABRADO MICRO SANDING PAPERS KIT. The longoni fiber shafts are covered by a guarantee of 24 months  by manufacturing defects

MADE WITH THE WORLD CHAMPIONS

Players of the Longoni team have an important role in the development of our shafts because it’s thanks to the skills of the best talents all over the world that we can create excellent shafts.
All our models have been tested and approved by our champions in order to ensure the maximum results and satisfaction to our customers.
The results speak for themselves: with our shafts the most important worldclass titles have been taken.

wood-origin
MADE IN ITALY: YESTERDAY, TODAY AND TOMORROW

All Longoni shafts, including the laminated ones, are entirely and uniquely produced in Italy in the factory based in Mariano Comense with techniques and machineries developed by us.
The processing cycle of each shaft lasts at least 24 months: from when you cut the board to when it reaches the billiard tables around the world.
The choice to continue completely producing in Italy was dictated by the desire to have a product different from all the other ones in terms of quality and technology, always under a strict control of our staff.

FIBER SHAFTS: PRECISION AND TRACEABILITY

All Fiber shafts are univocally numbered to trace production date. Each shaft is also labelled to report product specification including code, name, diameter and exact weight .The label, beyond showing these data, is a further guarantee of authenticity. Before labelling, each shaft is individually checked on a test desk to avoid warpage and other defects. To help reporting correct weight and diameter, we use a precision digital scale connected to the system and a laser micrometer.

  titolo
S2, the original, inimitable.

S2 shaft is produced entirely of 10 slices of Canadian Hardrock Maple.

Its technology is the result of years of development on the "Stratos",
the first laminated shaft ever, developed by Renzo Longoni in the mid-sixties and produced in thousands of pieces.
The S2 shaft is suitable for those looking for an elastic shaft but with determination, perfect for the most extreme english.
A classic shaft for those who want a professional and natural game.
Top control on the ball and low deflection.

wood-origin
The origin of the wood is crucial: Stradivari was used to go and choose the best wood in the valley of Panaveggio, where the fir trees grew in a unique microclimate in the world. Longoni company uses for its shafts only the best hard rock maple from Quebec and the whitest hornbeam of the Balkans, where extreme low temperatures, sun light and ground provide the best quality of wood for the billiard game.
cutting-processThe cutting of the logs is done during the coldest periods of the year to get the best physical features and that white color which distinguishes the best shafts: the Longoni shafts. From the central parts of the boards are extracted the elements that must have straight and thick vains without the presence of knots or other ahestetic blemishes including the sugar strips which can cause spots typical of the Saccharum maple.
wood-dryingThe drying process already begins when you cut the log into boards and leave them at open air, in the extreme dry and freezing climate where they are grown.Once the elements are obtained from the boards, these are vacuum dried to mechanically remove most of the water hold by the cells. After the first turning, all the Longoni shafts are left in a special climate-controlled and constant drying room for at least one year in order to loose totally the last traces of moisture before proceeding to the stabilizing process. wood-stabilizing

The stabilizing of the wood is the process through which, from a completely dried material, the wood starts to absorbe the natural environmental humidity to reach the right balance with the outside world. Thanks to this process which takes at least 3 months after the drying room process, the shafts will remain stable over the time and they will ensure an excellent playability.

maple-hard-rockLongoni uses for its own shafts only the best Canadian Hardrock Maple directly purchased in the best sawmills company that provide a responsible forestry. Once received the wood, already dried and selected, it has to pass a further inspection process .
The selected material will be aged in our factory for at least one year. The best maple for billiard has to have a straight and tight grain , white colour and top hardness.
This wood is both used for regular ( Maple and Pro Maple ) and laminated shafts ( S2, S3, S20 ).
stratosThe layered shaft was invented in 1965 by Renzo Longoni, based on constructive techniques used in Italy for the model "Arlecchino", which was also built with slices but of different woods. The same shaft was then patented in 1985 by Renzo Longoni. The goal was, and is, to create a shaft homogeneous and uniform in all its parts to ensure a constant and natural game. Thanks to advanced constructive techniques it has also been possible to improve the shooting accuracy, especially where there are english shots and the ball has to go straight without deflection.
profiles

The material is not enough: technology and experience is what is needed in order to work in the best way to obtain the most. The Longoni company is specialized in this and thanks to these competencies, it succeeded in diversifying the range of profiles available for its shafts range. Each discipline is followed in a specific way matching the experience reached in the others. For the carom game we have three possible different lenghts and conic or Eiffel profiles (similar to the shape of the famous Tour Eiffel in Paris), while in the pool you can choose four specific profiles. Each player has a wide range of shafts available among which he can choose shafts: more or less hard, longer or shorter according to his needs and type of game.

joints
Longoni is synonimous of wooden joint but, thanks to the huge experience, it has been able to produce one of the best metal joint ever created: the VP2.
guarantee
All Longoni shafts are covered by warranty for two years against manufacturing defects on parts such as joint, ferrule and ferrule sticking. The lamination process of Stratos shafts too is guaranteed for two years from the purchasing date. Each shaft is controlled before the shipment to be perfectly straight and to comply with the strictest requirements of our customers. In case of anomalies our widespread aftersale service will provide you with all the help you need.
playerPlayers of the Longoni team have an important role in the development of our shafts because it’s thanks to the skills of the best talents all over the world that we can create excellent shafts. All our models have been tested and approved by our champions in order to ensure the maximum results and satisfaction to our customers. Each profile and length has been developed to meet specific needs thanks to world champions such as Frèdéric Caudron, Semih Sayginer, Dick Jaspers, Marco Zanetti, Niels Feijen, Eddy Merckx, and all the other ones. The results speak for themselves: with our shafts the most important worldclass titles have been taken.
jbrAll the ferrules used on our shafts, from the simple "Maple" to the most advanced "S20", are built with a special polymer that we call JBR, in our opinion the best alternative to ivory ever found. The most important features of a good ferrule are strength, durability, easy cleaning and perfect bonding with wood and leather tips. The JBR ferrules have all of this and much more: their shape is developed especially for each kind of shaft in order to give the maximum result in your  more extreme shots. Hours of game and tests of all over the world’s players guarantee your purchase.
kamuiOn all the laminated shafts of the S2 / S3 Serie, we install the prestigious Japanese Black Kamui SS-OEM version, specifically produced for Longoni.
Thanks to this synergy our shafts have a great added value.
wax
All Longoni shafts are finished with several coats of natural Longoni wax (Art. 3478) to ensure a natural touch to your gaming product and protection against moisture and dirt. Thanks to the waxing, the shaft results to be sliding on both glove and skin.

With the purchase of our wax and "no blue" sponge (art. 17809), you can extend the protection of the shaft in time.

longoni-bagThe shafts of the Stratos range (S2, S3, S20) are all supplied with the prestigious black bag, which will protect them.
The Longoni shafts bag for the Stratos line is designed to protect without scratching.
If the shaft is supplied without this cue bag just doubt about its origin: every seller is obliged to provide it.
traceability
All shafts of the Pro, Stratos range and fiber ones are labeled univocally to trace both the production date and its precise weight at the moment of delivery. The label, beyond showing these data is a further guarantee of authenticity.
Many companies have tried to copy our labeling system, but they haven’t been able to match our quality!
precisionAll shafts are lathed exclusively with CNC machines following very specific procedures in order to ensure uniformity and consistency to our customers. Before the shipment they are checked on test desks to control its straightness and the correct weight.

The joint base is today further rectified by hand using a special tool to remove dirt and other production remaining. The perfection in your hands.

patentedThe Italian were the first ones to develop the laminated shafts and Longoni has been a pioneer in this field launching the Stratos shaft in the far 1965. Beware of imitations and products whose titles are not proved by concrete results.
Thanks to its exclusive technology and to the co-operation with top-level players all over the world, the Longoni was able to obtain many world titles and victories in competitions of excellence.

environmentLongoni always cares to the environment. The raw material to produce cues and shafts is purchased only by qualified and specialized companies which also deal with the control of the forests. Glues and chemical materials are strictly regulated by the rigorous rules of the European Community to guarantee both the employees’ and the end users’ health. All the wastes are disposed of by companies specialized in compliance with the laws in force and the cut wood remains are used for heating purpose in the company during the winter season without having to use oil or gas that generate a lot of Co2.

made-in-italyAll Longoni shafts, including the laminated ones, are entirely and uniquely produced in Italy in the factory based in Mariano Comense with techniques and machineries developed by us. Nothing is left to chance, but every single detail is well-finished, from the surrounding temperature to the density of the glues. The processing cycle of each shaft lasts at least 24 months: from when you cut the board to when it reaches the billiard tables around the world. The choice to continue completely producing in Italy was dictated by the desire to have a product different from all the other ones in terms of quality and technology, always under a strict control of our staff.

S3, the first laminated shaft in the world with two different woods coming from two different continents.

S3 is the shaft built with 5 slices of Quebec Hardrock Maple and 5 slices of white Balcanian hornbeam.

Thanks to the presence of the hornbeam, this shaft is heavier (about 10% more than the other ones of the same profile)
and more rigid in comparison to the S2. Very appreciated by the players when they need a bigger power and frontal balance.

The two different woods create an interesting aesthetical game which makes the shaft also an object to be shown.

honrbeamThe hornbeam is the wood traditionally used in Europe for the cues manufacturing.
It features uniqe qualities: strong, stable and with higher density.
Compared to the maple it is a little bit more rigid and slightly heavier. Excellent in technical disciplines and for the Russian pyramid.
Nowaydays it is also used in the construction of the laminated S3 shafts for pool and carom in combination with hardrock maple.

The wooden joint (used only in the carom game) is the classic one and allows a smooth game to the cue without changing the balance and the weight. The VP2 joint is more accurate and gives determination to the game, with a small frontal balance : it’s made of Titanium grade 5 ( the hardest ) or stainless steel in case weight is not an essential point. The female part of VP2 joint for the shafts is available in brass or in ergal (a special aluminium alloy) in order to balance in the best way cue and shaft: this choice is made by us directly according to the customer’s needs. On request you can order also cues with custom joints for other brands.

In its first year of launch on the market, this shaft gained an incredible list of international and world titles.

Developed only for the carom game, in a close collaboration with Marco Zanetti,
this shaft is the first in the world to have a structure of 20 slices of Quebec hard rock maple which makes the shaft really innovative.

The game is easy and natural and the deflection is completely erased.

Thanks to its internal structure the weight is well balanced: even if it is the lightest among the stratified shafts, the S20 is the one which has best control, power and frontal balance.
