wood-origin
The origin of the wood is crucial: Stradivari was used to go and choose the best wood in the valley of Panaveggio, where the fir trees grew in a unique microclimate in the world. Longoni company uses for its shafts only the best hard rock maple from Quebec and the whitest hornbeam of the Balkans, where extreme low temperatures, sun light and ground provide the best quality of wood for the billiard game.
cutting-processThe cutting of the logs is done during the coldest periods of the year to get the best physical features and that white color which distinguishes the best shafts: the Longoni shafts. From the central parts of the boards are extracted the elements that must have straight and thick vains without the presence of knots or other ahestetic blemishes including the sugar strips which can cause spots typical of the Saccharum maple.
wood-dryingThe drying process already begins when you cut the log into boards and leave them at open air, in the extreme dry and freezing climate where they are grown.Once the elements are obtained from the boards, these are vacuum dried to mechanically remove most of the water hold by the cells. After the first turning, all the Longoni shafts are left in a special climate-controlled and constant drying room for at least one year in order to loose totally the last traces of moisture before proceeding to the stabilizing process. wood-stabilizing

The stabilizing of the wood is the process through which, from a completely dried material, the wood starts to absorbe the natural environmental humidity to reach the right balance with the outside world. Thanks to this process which takes at least 3 months after the drying room process, the shafts will remain stable over the time and they will ensure an excellent playability.

made-in-italyAll Longoni shafts, including the laminated ones, are entirely and uniquely produced in Italy in the factory based in Mariano Comense with techniques and machineries developed by us. Nothing is left to chance, but every single detail is well-finished, from the surrounding temperature to the density of the glues. The processing cycle of each shaft lasts at least 24 months: from when you cut the board to when it reaches the billiard tables around the world. The choice to continue completely producing in Italy was dictated by the desire to have a product different from all the other ones in terms of quality and technology, always under a strict control of our staff. maple-hard-rockLongoni uses for its own shafts only the best Canadian Hardrock Maple directly purchased in the best sawmills company that provide a responsible forestry. Once received the wood, already dried and selected, it has to pass a further inspection process .
The selected material will be aged in our factory for at least one year. The best maple for billiard has to have a straight and tight grain , white colour and top hardness.
This wood is both used for regular (Maple and Pro Maple) and laminated shafts (S2, S3, S20).
profiles

The material is not enough: technology and experience is what is needed in order to work in the best way to obtain the most. The Longoni company is specialized in this and thanks to these competencies, it succeeded in diversifying the range of profiles available for its shafts range. Each discipline is followed in a specific way matching the experience reached in the others. For the carom game we have three possible different lenghts and conic or Eiffel profiles (similar to the shape of the famous Tour Eiffel in Paris), while in the pool you can choose four specific profiles. Each player has a wide range of shafts available among which he can choose shafts: more or less hard, longer or shorter according to his needs and type of game.

joints
Longoni is synonimous of wooden joint but, thanks to the huge experience, it has been able to produce one of the best metal joint ever created: the VP2.

The results speak for themselves: with our shafts the most important worldclass titles have been taken.
jbrAll the ferrules used on our shafts, from the simple "Maple" to the most advanced "S20", are built with a special polymer that we call JBR, in our opinion the best alternative to ivory ever found. The most important features of a good ferrule are strength, durability, easy cleaning and perfect bonding with wood and leather tips. The JBR ferrules have all of this and much more: their shape is developed especially for each kind of shaft in order to give the maximum result in your  more extreme shots. Hours of game and tests of all over the world’s players guarantee your purchase. da-vinciThe DaVinci is the standard tip for the Maple and Pro shafts of the Longoni range. Simple, durable, and easy. This tip, competitive in price, will absolutely not disappoint you: 6 layers of first choice pig leather make it the main choice for everybody.
wax
All Longoni shafts are finished with several coats of natural Longoni wax (Art. 3478) to ensure a natural touch to your gaming product and protection against moisture and dirt. Thanks to the waxing, the shaft results to be sliding on both glove and skin.

With the purchase of our wax and "no blue" sponge (art. 17809), you can extend the protection of the shaft in time.

precisionAll shafts are lathed exclusively with CNC machines following very specific procedures in order to ensure uniformity and consistency to our customers. Before the shipment they are checked on test desks to control its straightness and the correct weight.

The joint base is today further rectified by hand using a special tool to remove dirt and other production remaining. The perfection in your hands.
